On Team Roles... Not everyone can be a scorer. Some of you were born to clap and carry cones.
We don’t hang quotes in the locker room. We hang stat sheets. In red ink.
Yearbooks Are for Quitters You want something to remember the season by? Screenshot the standings. That’s your yearbook.
A parent asked if I accept end-of-season gifts. Yes—state titles, college offers, and total silence on group texts.
I don’t do team photos. If you want a memory, win a banner.
One kid asked if we get trophies win or lose. I said, “You get memories if we lose. And I erase those during sprints."
One parent asked why we were practicing on Thanksgiving. I said, “Championships don’t care about your cranberry sauce, Diane."
If your kid plays multiple sports "for fun," don't worry. My kid's been locked into one sport since 4. Hasn’t smiled since 6. We're built different.
Just watched a 9-year-old strike out looking. His dad said, “It’s okay.” No, it’s not. He had one job. We don’t coddle failure in this dugout.
If your kid can’t handle me yelling from the sideline, they won’t survive in a Costco parking lot.
I told our team: you can’t spell fun without fundamentals. Then I made them run laps for spelling it wrong.
Youth sports aren’t too intense. LIFE is intense. I’m preparing my kid for traffic, taxes, and heartbreak.
