176 gallons. ➡️ That’s the total amount of blood, platelets and plasma that Bill “Waz” Waerzeggers has donated over the past 34 years with the @RedCrossWis. Waz’s blood is extra special. Not only does he have type O negative blood — the most common blood type used for transfusions — he also is CMV negative, meaning that he’s a hero for babies! His blood is a special match for newborns needing transfusions as part of their medical care. Only 15% of the population has CMV negative blood, and without them, sick babies would not receive the lifesaving blood transfusions they desperately need. “It’s the little things in life that we can do to make a big difference and I am so happy I can help,” Waz said. “Knowing that I am helping someone is such a good feeling, and everyone who can donate should donate to help others.” Join us in celebrating Waz for reaching this incredible milestone! We’re so grateful to dedicated blood donors like him who help make our mission possible. ❤️
