Last (2025) April, within two weeks of joining in Delhi, a call comes to me from him, "Reyaz bhai, I dare address you as 'bhai', hope you would grant me that allowance...". He sends his book, BIRTH OF A NATION, thru his daughter (based on all rare negatives of 1971 War that he misplaced in the pile of his archive). He was one of my childhood heroes. Many #youth who may not know: in August 1971, a 29-year-old photo-journalist in @TheStatesmanLtd, Raghu Rai, entered #Bangladesh to cover 🇧🇩Liberation War. He shared with me accounts of intense suffering, agony and humiliation of #people that he witnessed in battlefield - villages - Refugee Camps. Raghu bhai narrated to me a chilling account of an ambush when he kept clicking even braving splinters!   What he saw on the ground reminded him of his childhood when his family had to cross over to India (1947) braving so much of uncertainties. He was barely 5, then. In 1972, 🇮🇳 Govt. awarded a young Raghu Rai #PadmaShri for his epochal photography on 🇧🇩War. Since April '25, Raghu bhai embraced me just as a younger brother. A giant of man in the world of #photography #art #aesthetics, each time I would call him, he would greet me on phone almost like hugging me. Words just won't suffice. Raghu bhai, in eight decades, you touched so many souls, across lands. You didn't belong just to #India but to the world. Adieu, Raghu bhai. RIP. @IndiaToday

The Haplogroup of the Ottoman Dynasty Has Been Revealed! According to the latest data, the Y-DNA result for the Ottoman Dynasty appears as "J-PH1795," and this result proves that, contrary to some claims, the Ottoman Dynasty's paternal lineage originated in Central Asia through the Medieval Turkic migration to Anatolia. The source of this data is a DNA test conducted on a television channel by Mahmud Namık Osmanoğlu (Mahmud Francis Osmanoğlu), a descendant of the Ottoman Dynasty. The results were subsequently shared in an article in the journal Nature. The results show a positive J2a2 (J-L581) result. Nature: nature.com/articles/s4143… When the data was compared with the previously known STR profile from the user "HIH Prince Sertan Saltan" (a male-line descendant of Prince Yusuf İzzeddin Efendi), the J-L581 positive result from the Nature article has become comparable. The data were found to be consistent with each other. YFULL's Y-STR analysis tool, available to some users for a limited time, was used to compare the STR profiles. You can see the results in the images below. The J-L581 positive result from the Nature article clearly indicates that the dynastic lineage in question cannot be found in the J-L26 and its sub-branches. From this, we understand that the result is "J-PH1795" (FTDNA designation J-PH358). Moreover, the possibility of other STRs and two modern results from Bursa, a significant settlement during the Ottoman founding period, point to the "J-Y227283" branch, a deeper branch of the J-PH1795 subclade. However, the "J-PH1795" result is sufficient to demonstrate that the Ottomans arrived in the region through Medieval Turkic migration. All of this data, as can be seen from the findings in @DanTabin's study "Dual Origins of Turkic-Speaking Peoples," demonstrates that the Ottoman paternal lineage has been present in the Turkic Y-DNA pool since the Scytho-Siberians, who became Turkic during the Iron Age through ethnogenesis, and that the Ottoman dynasty was a Turkic dynasty that came to the region through Central Asian Turkic migrations. --------------- #ottoman #turkish #turkishgenomicsproject
