Too often in Ireland the only places that wildlife can are the places that are inaccessible to humans & their excited pets. Irish society (even many of those who love nature) is obsessed with accessibility & wildlife suffers
Like an Irish version of the Everglades, swampy forest in Killarney. Gloriously wet habitat. Nature needs more wild space like this SO badly: it's up to us as a society to make it happen. #Rewilding 🌎
When people first arrived in Ireland they were greeted by endless forests and a world teeming with wildlife & wonder. Presently, the mindset is economic growth at all costs. The Irish must find a way to co exist with nature.
Natural regeneration is by far and away the best form of rewilding. However, in some instances it doesn't hurt to put a 🌳 where it should be. Like this Alder in a treeless Irish riverbank.
@GuruAnaerobic @ChrisGPackham @ciwf Lab meat is industrial farming? I would have thought it was simply humanely produced meat.
@ChrisGPackham In Ireland it rained incessantly from October until a couple of weeks ago.
@IrishRainforest Presumably, Red Deer are simply easier and more fun to shoot. Those responsible for our remaining areas of pseudo wilderness don't give a damn.
@pondsntrees They're beautiful creatures and a sign that the water body is in good health.
