In the DMV area, thousands of Salvadorans with Temporary Protected Status—most who originally entered undocumented in the 1980s and 1990s—work in construction jobs, often in senior roles given their wealth of experience. They are literally building the region to fuel its growth.

When the Trump administration tried to end TPS for El Salvador, IIRC, one estimate found that it would force construction companies in the region around DC to fire fully a third of their entire staff, which would have caused massive economic damage to the region.
@ReichlinMelnick Why would Salvadorans have TPS when El Salvador is perfectly safe, in fact safer than the U.S.?
@ReichlinMelnick @tomaskenn immigrants build America great.
@ReichlinMelnick @HC_Richardson It is shameful how the R’s treat immigrants! My parents were immigrants and they helped build the country, not tear it down. They only want a piece of pie and who doesn’t?!
