The VAST majority of ObGyns support access to abortion…it’s almost as if we have some kind of front row seat as to why it is incredibly dangerous to impose restrictions. Wouldn’t it be weird if people listened to us?

Let me be clear: Each person has the right to make decisions about their own life—decisions such as the right to start a family, use contraception, and marry the person you love.

When “life” begins or whether you personally would seek abortion is irrelevant.

Roe v. Wade protected a woman’s right to choose, her right to make intensely personal decisions with her doctor. It reaffirmed basic principles of equality. And it reinforced the fundamental right of privacy — the right of each of us to choose how to live our lives.

Abortion is legal in California. It will remain that way. I just signed a bill that makes our state a safe haven for women across the nation. We will not cooperate with any states that attempt to prosecute women or doctors for receiving or providing reproductive care.
