Have you noticed how those motorised corridors Thameslink call trains make a weird Dr Who noise when they arrive and depart?
@RevRichardColes No 2 in 'Transport makes odd noises': Have you noticed that a Tesla reversing sounds like the spaceship in The Navigator.
@RevRichardColes They need River Song there, she’d probably tell them they only make that noise because they left the brakes on.
@RevRichardColes Those awful trains. Seating with the comfort level of mortuary slabs. How on earth you could tolerate the journey from Brighton to Cambridge in those.
@RevRichardColes Repeated points failures over the last two days has meant a depressing lack of arrivals and departures on Thameslink! And these trains are probably the most cramped, uncomfortable ride in Western Europe.
@RevRichardColes Motorised Corridors, love that! Their older cousins on South Western Railway and London North Western Railway also make that sound. Always thought of it as a warble...
@RevRichardColes In 1988 the beat combo Londonbeat did a single “9am on a New York Subway”, to emphasise the subway side of it there was the sound of a subway train, but the distinct whirr and ticking sound identified it as 1960 Central Line stock
@RevRichardColes They’re new! The old Thameslink trains break down a lot
@RevRichardColes Haunted by the ghost of John Pertwee.
