Introducing ChatGPT for Dishwashing
GPT-6 achieves state-of-the-art results on dishwashing benchmarks for long-running jobs and difficult stains.
The Navier–Stokes Millennium Prize Problem is a $1 million challenge about whether the equations describing fluid motion can break down. In this video, I accidentally found a counter-example while trying to optimize my dishwasher. But in reality, OpenAI used 10,000 AI agents to find a proof in 88 hours: openai.com/index/navier-s…

Since all sorts of people have asked me, I decided to write down my current thoughts on "What's the Future for Pure Math Research in the Age of AI?"

Terence Tao proposes what he calls a "Copernican view of intelligence".
Instead of buying into the common, one-dimensional narrative that artificial intelligence will simply evolve from "subhuman" to "superhuman" and ultimately make humanity entirely redundant, Tao urges us to look at the bigger picture.
Much like the Copernican revolution proved the Earth is not the center of the universe, Tao suggests we need to realize that human intelligence isn't the only, or necessarily the highest, form of intellect. Historically, we have treated other forms of storing or creating knowledge—like animals, books, and computers—as secondary. However, we actually exist within a much richer universe of intelligence.
Both human intelligence and computer intelligence possess their own distinct strengths and weaknesses. The true potential lies not in viewing them as direct competitors, but rather in focusing on collaboration. By working together, humans and computers can achieve additional things that neither could accomplish on their own, requiring us to think in much wider terms than just what humans or computers can do alone.
@miniapeur Having a child, at least for the mother, is certainly physically harder, even with risk of serious injury and death. Also its the primary goal of the genes. PhD takes long and not everyone has the patience and endurance but I do see the point to value a kid more than a phd
@Rainmaker1973 " 14 of the 20 amino acids used by Earth’s organisms, plus chemical precursors to DNA and RNA.
" --- is a bit different than "human dna" no?
@DogMom89891412@jason_schrock@BabyD1111229@LeahCushmanNH Survivor bias, most in danger from cardivascular disease already dead, so they dont show up anymore. The ones still living probably have unique genetic traits protecting them or just lucky
@nasqret Smaller problems work wonderfully, and I get the best results when assisting the assistant by suggesting standard tricks for appropriate problems. Funnily enough, while its mathemical spectrum far exceeds my tool set, it doesnt see those little tricks and some connections.
@nasqret My main problem is with long derivations. I tried to re-structure some old papers, that were too long where I never had motivation to fight through it again. So I thought to get GPT to help cleaning it up. But apparently 30+pages is too complex.
@karpathy He says its obvious that there is no supervised learning, but there are parrots, cubs learning hunting, birds imitating songs. I think there is lots of supervised learning going on in nature. Same with kids. If one raises a kid one notices they learn lots of things by imitation.
@call_me_Nithin@ylecun Its hilarious how wrong Sutton is about supervised learning not being present in nature. Everybody with kids knows that they learn at least partially by imitation. Also its all over nature, for example parrots, or birds imitating songs, or cubs imitating hunting tricks.
