What's with the sudden players in for "pre-season" obsession? You realise that rarely happens at any club right? Having players in for pre-season really isn't as important as all of a sudden everyone is making out, offcourse it would be helpful, offcourse it would have been nice but we are still paying the price and picking up the pieces of the last regime trying to clear out players on crap contracts.. it was always going to be a tough, long window. You'd think our season was already over the way people are going on, here's why its not as important as you think: Utd play 4 games in August: ➡️ Arsenal 17th Aug ➡️ Fulham 23rd Aug ➡️ Carabao Cup 2nd Round 27th Aug ➡️ Burnley 30th Aug Then there is a 2 week international break. The current squad, even as it is, is more than capable of beating all 4 of these teams, we beat and drew with Arsenal the last 2 times we played them, now we have Cunha and fit again Zirkzee, Amad, De Ligt, Mainoo, Mount and Shaw. Not to mention rested Bruno, Maguire, Dorgu, Ugarte, Dalot, Yoro etc Pre-season is 4 weeks, 5 friendly games. If we sign players in July and August and they link up slightly later thats perfectly ok and over the course of the season those signings not being able to contribute to the first 4 competitive games really isn't as dramatic as people are making out and certainly won't define the whole season or Ruben's success. We could make 5 deadline day signings and sell 5 players on deadline day and it would still only really impact the first 4 games of next season. If you go back and look at the data, most PL teams make their biggest signings in July and August. Aside from Club World Cup teams that still stands this season. Its the same every year, the data proves this. ▶️ Chelsea & Man City added and moved quickly BECAUSE of the club world club and incentives offered. ▶️ Liverpool have moved quickly having not spent anything last summer, and having had 12 months to plan, a league title in the bag and no stupid players on stupid contracts to shift on. ▶️ Arsenal have signed 1 player. A midfielder. That arguably doesnt strengthen them at all. ▶️ other top 5-8 contenders - Spurs, Newcastle, Villa, Forest have done NOTHING so far. The point being, stop over-reacting, stop dancing to the fancam, content creator tunes. Be calm. Your anger and subsequent toxic vibes are not helping anything. Its just adding to the online pile on and abuse being aimed at the current players which DOES NOT HELP! Did you see the disgusting comments under Ugarte's post or Onana's? You think thats going to make ANY player want to come to us? I'm ever-optimistic, I'll never succumb to the dark side, I'm very much looking forward to watching the team in pre-season & kicking off next month vs Arsenal with or without shiny new faces. There isn't any amount of crying, whinging, moaning that is going to change that because you know what..... I really really enjoy supporting Manchester United. You dont have to agree, you can be frustrated, thats perfectly understandable and fair. I personally choose to be optimistic but I dont expect everyone to share that optimism

An icon who will be dearly missed by so many ❤️

Amad Diallo. Composed amid the madness.

Not Amorim shouting Amad before Licha made the pass😭😭

@AmorimEra_ He scored a sensational goal

When looking at #MUFC's defensive issues, it's clear not all the issues are caused due to the back 4. However, the constant interchange does have a massive impact. How big an impact is difficult to say. It also doesn't just affect your ability off the ball, but also your patterns on it. As I always say, Pressing starts from the front, build-up starts from the back. So, a consistent defence is massively important to a side's effectiveness on and off the ball. It allows for automatisms on the ball, and telepathic understanding and connection off it. A team can play consistent patterns out from the back, and make fewer mistakes when they understand their partner's strengths and weaknesses. Which is something we have seen all too clearly recently. It feels like nearly every goal we concede comes from an individual error, from someone out of position. So let's look at consistencies of partnerships, starting with our centre backs and various partnerships. When looking at individuals, this is how many league games each central defender has started in a row: Maguire = 9 Varane = 7 Martinez = 5 Evans = 4 Casemiro = 4 Lindelof = 3 Kambwala = 2 Shaw = 1 To put that into perspective, Saliba has started 37 league games in a row, Gabriel has started 27 in a row and, Van Dijk has started 32 in a row. Now when you look at partnerships, it's even more concerning and transparent, this is how many times each partnership has started together in a row: Martinez + Varane = 3 Maguire + Varane = 3 Varane + Evans = 3 Martinez + Lindelof = 2 Evans + Maguire = 2 Lindelof + Maguire = 2 Maguire + Kambwala = 2 Maguire + Casemiro = 2 Evans + Casemiro = 2 Evans + Lindelof = 1 Lindelof + Varane = 1 Shaw + Maguire = 1 Evans + Kambwala = 1 Martinez + Maguire = 1 Again, if you compare that to Arsenal, who have the best defensive record in the league. Their established partnership of Gabriel and Saliba, have started 27 games in a row. We don't consistency in personnel, let alone partnerships. Our players look like they haven't played together before at times. Which at times, when it comes to partnerships, is true. When discussing the best teams in the world, you usually think of partnerships, not just individuals. With United alone, you had Rio and Vidic, Yorke and Cole, Rooney and Ronaldo, Beckham and Neville, Carrick and Scholes and so many others down the years. A proper partnership will elevate individuals. A poor understanding of your partner, makes you second guess them and yourself. The former puts you a step ahead, the latter leaves you a step behind. In a sport of fine margins, 2 steps difference can make a big impact.

I understand a lot of the criticism that falls at ten Hag's door. A lot of it has merit, but I don't understand the criticism of subbing off Mainoo and Garnacho. Yes, both were having good games, and that may actually be part of the reason they were subbed. We always speak on ten Hag's stubbornness to rotate, and give players a rest. We spoke on this a lot last season in the so called "easier games". Mainoo, and Garnacho have been 2 of #MUFC's best and brightest sparks in otherwise flickering season. Both of which are 19. Mainoo has featured in every game since the 12th of December, whilst Garnacho has started every game since November 1st. We speak on managing the youth, and not burning them out. Those subs were the right ones. At 3-0 and even 3-1. Myself and many others were screaming out for some rotation, and players to get a rest. Those 2 are the most logical players to bring off there. Now, all of a sudden people are acting like we shouldn't have made changes. We're 3-0 up playing a side a division below us, bringing off 2 teenagers, for 2 players that have played over 800 club matches combined, and unable to see out the game. For me that says more about the players than the manager.

With the names being branded around to replace ten Hag, I’d rather stick with Erik. It’s funny how no manager has been successful after 2 years at Utd, why you ask? because our issues take longer than 2 years to fix. Give Erik next season & a good window & see where we get

He is not finished yet. It's time to back the manager. Bald is best.

Retweet if you are AGAINST Gareth Southgate becoming Manchester United manager.

I've been called a lot recently for my backing of ten Hag, and honestly, I couldn't care. You can say I'm deluded, toxicly positive, or say I'm ten Hag's pay roll, I don't care. I'd rather be accused of backing my own too much, than turn my back or constantly criticise the club that I love. If it fails, so be it. Then I will back the next guy and try and give reasonings why they could turn around. There's too much negativity out there. Sure, at times I may be biased, I may avoid certain truths, but this is a way of life that I chose to follow. Football comes with highs and lows. The lows make the highs that much better. I'm emotional, we all are. But I'd rather go out my way to see the positives than the negatives, or else the sport and #MUFC will swallow you up. We were successful once, we will be again. Football works in cycles, and waves. We've just got to ride this one out, or else we will drown. Rest assured, we will be back. GGMU. And morning all, I will be in Manchester for the weekend so will be more inactive. Good luck all, these are the games we watch and follow for. Let's get behind the players and the manager, the 12th man is a cliché, but it works. See you on the other side.

If we go off the assumption that ten Hag sees his preferred back #MUFC 4 as Dalot, Varane, Martinez and Shaw, here is the availability of his selected back 4. (This based off them being in position, so Dalot at LB doesn't count) All 4 - 2 Matches, 2 Wins 3/4 - 8 Matches, 5 Wins, 1 Draw, 2 Losses 2/4 - 14 Matches, 6 Wins, 1 Draw, 7 Losses 1/4 - 11 Matches, 5 Wins, 1 Draw, 5 Losses 0/4 - 3 Matches, 1 Wins, 2 Losses For a manager that wants to play front foot football, and who has a big emphasis on playing out from the back, and likes to play through central areas this level of availability is massively detrimental. Pressing starts from the front, and tempo dictation and build up starts from the back. The longer it takes to leave your backline, the fewer chances you create up top. Due to him being Dutch and managing at Ajax, he is thought of as a descendent of Cruyff, and have a focus on on the ball ability and linkup. But that isn't the case, whilst he does have principles on the ball and patterns that he likes to see from his teams. He mainly focuses on shape and space manipulation. That is so incredibly difficult to manipulate and utilise when you have to alter your shape weekly due to personnel. People will bring up the likes of Ange Postecoglu when it comes to a consistent style of play. Whilst that argument has merit, it doesn't tell the full truth. Ange has a squad with similar profiles, there are few specialists in his side, his team has been built up by a proper structure and almost transcends the manager. There were often times when you'd look at players signed under Conte and Mourinho, and it would be confusing, they weren't their type of player, because they weren't and these managerial powerhouses struggled. That squad was built for someone like Ange, who has similar principles to Poch, who his team nicely resembles. If they have a squad issue and have to replace Bentancur with Lo Celso, or Bissouma with Hojbjerg do you think that effects them too much? No, no it doesn't partly due to a refined style, but mostly because they are the same profile of player. Now look at United, in the same position and swap Casemiro with Eriksen, or Mainoo with McTominay. Their profiles are incredibly different, effecting the style. This is something Ineos will need to address. The squad players need to be of similar profiles to the starters. You can't play the same with Martial up top as you can Hojlund.

Not every story turns out the same but Klopp & Arteta are examples of what sticking with a manager can do. It takes time & patience. It’s not all sunshine & rainbows, there’s lots of 💩 to go through before we get there, with INEOS & a proper structure who knows what can happen

Never doubt Rasmus Højlund 😤
