It also feels sort of working class solidarity with Roach. Like, even if he don’t fuck with you, you’re gunna eat, because everyone has to eat. And it’s his job to cook. Its dutiful and nurturing in a By Any Means Necessary sort of way

I love that Roach made food for crew being exiled. Its charming, kind, loving, & compassionate. It‘s one of my favorite of the “showing” parts to what the audience is told: Pirates are sweet guys with trauma who just need some safety to share the tender parts of themselves.
