I keep hearing that fathers play an essential role in shaping their daughters’ self esteem, and it’s so humbling to think that God saw fit to trust me with forming how this perfect little girl will see herself for decades after I’m gone

Marriage luxuries we forget are luxuries: * Morning kisses * Having a permanent plus-one * "Text me when you get there" * Knowing each other's orders by heart * Car rides with your favorite person * Going to bed together * Someone noticing when something's off * Celebrating the

Fathers eat random food in the kitchen at night. Mothers don’t. The night kitchen is the domain of the dad.

@Elialbrecht This is awesome! Does it let you review associates’ work before it gets published to the client/OC?

I would agree to a plan to phase out social security over the next 25 years, even knowing that it means the system will end right at the moment when I would start drawing a check. If that means that my kids and grandchildren aren’t subjected to this scam for their entire lives, I’m willing to take that hit. I just can’t for the life of me understand or relate to the older people who don’t feel that way and wouldn’t be willing to make the sacrifice for the sake of their descendants. Totally foreign mentality to me. I truly find it baffling. Setting my kids up for the future is like one of the only things I care about anymore.

It is, in fact, incredibly based to recognize and advocate for the primacy of the sacraments over any manmade institution or law

The only upside to my wife being out of town is I get to keep the apartment whatever temperature it is outside 24/7.

I was using ChatGPT for legal advice and it decided to completely hallucinate some preposterous nonsense about how growing wheat to use on my own farm somehow constitutes interstate commerce

@Katy_Faust Agree wholeheartedly, but I’d add that a dad, at least for his daughters, needs to be a source of (secondary) security in addition to stimulation.

@shawngorham It probably has more to do with the rise of LLCs and the ability for single owner/operators to have limited liability without double taxation or complicated entity schemes.

Am I the only one who doesn’t understand why we need data centers? I spent all morning searching Google and Wikipedia and couldn’t find a single good reason. Then I watched a 45-minute YouTube explainer in 4K, but it was mostly about AI, and I’m just waiting for that bubble to pop. I opened 200 browser tabs, downloaded a few hundred research papers, translated three from Chinese, and uploaded 2TB of sequencing data so colleagues in eight countries could analyze it with me. Then we discussed the results on Zoom while Slack transcribed the meeting and emailed everyone a summary. Around lunch, my phone backed up 14,000 family photos, synchronized my contacts and calendar across six devices, routed me around traffic, checked the weather using live satellite data, booked a doctor’s appointment, refilled a prescription, paid a bill, transferred money between banks, approved payroll for hundreds of employees, and ordered groceries. Later, I read about hospitals retrieving patient records and medical scans in seconds, emergency services coordinating disaster responses, scientists designing protein therapies and sharing enormous datasets, utilities balancing the electrical grid, and airlines continuously rerouting thousands of flights. But these all felt like pretty niche edge cases. So I asked an AI agent to turn everything I had done that day into a Twitter post, make it increasingly insane and obvious, and optimize it for maximum engagement.

I need someone to teach me how to get my newborn to sleep in her bassinet. She’s either in bed with mom (meaning I’m on the couch) or on my chest (meaning im awake and on the couch) so mom can get some real sleep between feedings
