@jennyschuessler 14th Century plague labor shortage:“Statute of Laborers…enacted after outbreaks of the plague”, intended to ‘combat rising wages and to prevent the poaching of servants’ with the promise of better terms.” Maybe “raptus” did mean rape, but here metaphor for “poaching” labor?

@JonahFurman @Julie_from_Ohio When l hired onto the assembly line at Ford Rouge, our Mustang seats were built in-house. Seats were later outsourced to a supplier, Lear. But this latest news is much bigger. When Ford builds batteries and/or EVs in Tenn. & KY, entire plants may be nonunion. UAW, fight or die.
