@adadithya @ashleevance most of the founders who are agreeing here are ones who got rejected in the past. no portco (obv) or a well funded co would dare to call any vc out. its a small world , news travels fast, vc-portco founder nexus takes note and grudges stay forever
@roshanonline Vance is himself a popular paid shill and this caleb guy is clearly looking to monetise his newfound reach- so anything goes
@sidin have 2 friends from 2 different states who named their kids Vihaan independently while living in 2 different countries- insane preference for this name.
@muskan_kalra24 Specialised robotics like cobots, manufacturing bots etc across the stack was solved 2 decades ago. It’s stuff like humanoids that’s hard and that’s coz their use case has never been well defined and is frankly a pointless thing to solve.
@protosphinx But India has a very mature and high volume automobile industry that had established both the tech, supply chain and talent decades ago- this could have been extended to adjacent industries easily. But would a VC in 2015 back any electronics manufacturer? Never imo.
@_saksham_mittal @ashleevance recheck what China built first- it wasn't payments and commerce.
This guy single handedly burned a $ billion on a failed company when it could have gone elsewhere. VCs still haven’t learnt.
This is a very dated view of the VCs in India and very rage baitish. I think the ecosystem has become so much better. Companies like Astrobase, Airbound and Sarvam AI are able to raise well and fast. Also there have been spectacular outcomes in the last many years with companies
@MuddaKaushik @ashleevance This just popped up on my TL and is a brutal reminder of what VCs are.
A startup isn't supposed to make money. It's supposed to grow fast and maximize the odds of returning a multiple to its investors. Once you take VC money, your job is to increase value, not generate profit. If a company in my portfolio is sitting on profits, I'm annoyed. That
@siddhiman And it’s also not something to associate with only SUVs or trucks- my 320D drives smooth as butter and has this therapeutic rumble that makes the car feel alive- not dead like ultra refined petrols and EVs
@ashleevance There is a graveyard of founders attempting hard stuff and giving up because of these risk averse VCs who rather fund another delivery service
@ku1deep Make new cities. Expand existing cities horizontally. Enough land is available. Population is not evenly distributed.
@tlbtlbtlb probably have a closed spacex indoor facility to do this, some of the rocket hangars are bigger than the ramp
@ku1deep is aerosolised sea salt bad? seems like a natural abundant saline nasal spray to clear your allergies
lulz
re Spirit Airlines data: if you train a model on a failed airline's emails you will get a model that is really, really great at running a failed airline
This thread and its comments are something I don’t hear any finance or tech bros speak like ever in India- a very casual way to say complex things that few understand
AI predictions for next 6-9 months -> Anthropic/ OAI fail to ban OSS in the US -> Anthropic/ OAI continue to innovate product but stall on fundamental tech breakthroughs -> SOTA Gemini 4 launches at 10x lower cost -> Elon open sources Grok -> Anthropic/ OAI ARR growth stalls as
America is still the Wild West
It takes a lot for a fight to move the needle for me, but this blew my shit clean off (crazy style)
@suritalreja What shitty car is this? Doesn’t happen normally with a good car
Back when duster first came out it was the most unconventional fun car and seriously capable. Just saw a few of these new ones on the roads and looks.. small..?
