I’m a white woman who lives in a non-“hotspot” neighbourhood. Was able to pre-book a vaccine appointment at a pharmacy a 5 minute walk from my house on my day off. This is what health disparity looks like. #CovidVaccine

I wish stoicism around being overworked and constantly busy wasn’t so normalized in medicine. I think it would go a long way if medical professionals (and students) felt more comfortable acknowledging when they’re tapped out and need a break.

Patient walks into the ER. Has not been able to afford his medications for months due to job loss. His condition worsens - needs an #ICU bed. The govt will cover his entire hospital costs which may be more than $100k - if he survives. #pharmarcare would have been cheaper.

There is a reason why pharmacare didn't pass, just as there is a reason why Indigenous communities don't have clean drinking water, just as there is a reason we don't have nationalized LTC, or affordable child care. It's a lack of imagination, will and drive to make it happen.

Today I provided care for an elderly gentleman with ‘dementia’ who was in pain. When our team went to see him, we found his memory was perfect! He just spoke Tamil. Language barriers are still some of the most significant barriers faced by seniors when accessing health care.
