the problem with having abandonment issues and a fear of people leaving you is that you become so paranoid and worried about it that you end up causing people to not want to be around you anymore. it’s a double edged sword

'Abandonment' is not limited to blatant leaving. It can also be change in facial expression, perceived dismissal/criticism/judgment, tone of voice, unpleasant moods etc. This is, once again, often linked to parental emotional neglect and invalidation.

We can have severe attachment trauma w/ BPD. This can cause the extreme emotions that one has regarding abandonment anxiety. Which can be painful, shameful, overwhelming or unbearable. This adds to the rabid defense mechanism attack when perceived(or real) abandonment occurs.
