🎥 Why this isn’t a penalty and certainly can’t be called in OT @ThatsHockeyTalk

@Rupper17 @ThatsHockeyTalk Mike what about the too many men? Not being snarky.
@Rupper17 @ThatsHockeyTalk Seriously question here bc I’ve heard many times officials say you’re supposed to be in control of your stick. So that doesn’t apply here because of the stick pop? Definitely changes my perspective. Also amazing that both officials saw the stick pop in real time.
@Rupper17 @ThatsHockeyTalk actually, this is wrong. You are responsible for your stick. They teach you that in peewee hockey. It doesn’t matter if you are pulling it away from a stick check. The only exception is on the follow through of a shot. It’s cut and dry.
@Rupper17 @ThatsHockeyTalk 1. I have no dog in this debate 2. Self-inflicted high stick is not a penalty 3. Great non-call by refs 4. Otherwise you're incentivizing strategic self inflicted high sticking Only Islander fans believe this is the intent of the high sticking rule
@Rupper17 @ThatsHockeyTalk Please State from the rule book where it says this
@Rupper17 @ThatsHockeyTalk Still responsible for your stick Rupp.
@Rupper17 @ThatsHockeyTalk They’re NOT going to like this on the Island Ruppy but it’s not going high without that lift and it’s not getting called in OT. Well said
@Rupper17 @Jackie_Redmond @ThatsHockeyTalk I must have missed the part of the rulebook where it says you don't have to be responsible for your own stick. Oops.
@Rupper17 @ThatsHockeyTalk "ANY contact made by a stick on an opponent above the shoulders is prohibited and a minor penalty shall be imposed" Literally what the rulebook says. Also rewind 30 seconds before that and catch the too many men penalty from the Canes. The isles hate is showing
