To everyone going wild about the statue of slave trader #EdwardColston being pulled down, saying it should have been done legally and democratically... people HAVE been campaigning and pleading to have it removed for years and nothing has been done. That is the real crime.

People who say - authorities should take statues down after discussion. Yes. But it isn't happening. Bristol'sbeen debating #EdwardColston for years and wasn't getting anywhere. In 2018, it was agreed that statue would bear a plaque noting his involvement in the slave trade. BUT

@epkaufm It is so very clearly not a 'mob', and the fact that you so easily use such language says so much about your views. Discredited, inappropriate language for talking about crowds of people engaging in political acts (irrespective of what one thinks of those political acts)
