I’ve tried to DM you but can’t see the option to message. A few hikes we really enjoyed were: Roy’s peak - about an hour north of Queenstown in New Zealand. Great sunrise walk, some amazing views over lake wanaka and the surrounding mountains. Mt Abang - in the more northern side of Bali, much less visited than Mt Batur. We walked it at around 3am, took ~2 hours up and we had the whole top to ourselves and even by sunrise there was only ~10 people max. Really cool jungle vibes walking this one.

@Therichardralph I’m the same just buy and hold stocks I like for the long term. I think that’s a solid choice for the majority of your money. That said I am tempted to start a new account to ‘trade’ on, the idea would be to take riskier moves and try to compound faster.

@andyturner I feel like they’re main goals are making fee’s from clients and providing a very conservative investment plan to ensure the customer doesn’t loose or gain massively. That said, I’ve never dealt with a financial adviser personally so could be chatting Bob.

If I was starting off in the stock market today, this is what I’d do: 1. Ensure I’m earning more than I’m spending in my personal life 2. Use the extra money to build concentrated positions in the market 3. Utilise the stocks and shares ISA for 0% tax on gains. 4. Keep on learning / researching trends, companies, people.

@JT_invests_ Because people are unbelievably financially uneducated. People use it as ‘extra’ money they have on credit rather than a facility to benefit. So stick to debit cards. I put it down to schooling, I was never told about this difference at school.

The problem is herd thinking generally, you can’t do what everyone else does and expect extraordinary results. IMO beginners should go deep on 1-2 companies they understand or have an interest in, then spend hours researching online finance to see how people evaluate a good investment opportunity, once you’ve done that do your own thinking / decision making and you’ll be gaurenteed to learn something.

As a beginner just start making decisions, investing, increase income, keep expenses in check. You will naturally find the type Of investing that works for you best after plenty of fuck ups and great calls. Unless you’re planning to not be an active investor and just buy the index?
