#Vancouver #BC’s renowned #seawall completely underwater, waves & debris crashing against it. Damage likely being done as strong NW wind ahead of an Arctic front combined with astronomically high tides pound the shore with #StormSurge #ShareYourWeather #BCwind #BCwx #BCstorm
@RyanVoutilainen @armelcastellan @justinhobson85 @50ShadesofVan @Brad604 @jwhittalTWN @MurphTWN I am in Nanaimo; when you say 'the seawall...' what area do you mean? For example... when I was last over, we took Hullo & walked (well, wheeled in my case) to the Bayshore. Is that the area you mean? I have a mtg downtown on Feb 11.
@RyanVoutilainen @armelcastellan @justinhobson85 @50ShadesofVan @Brad604 @jwhittalTWN @MurphTWN And if the Seawall is blocked, and you’re forced to do your stroll inside Stanley Park, and if the temperature is just a degree or two below 0C, you have a chance to find hair ice growing on twigs around Beaver Lake.
@RyanVoutilainen @armelcastellan @justinhobson85 @50ShadesofVan @Brad604 @jwhittalTWN @MurphTWN This seems to happen a lot now and I wonder what other will take to shore up the seawall for future climate
@RyanVoutilainen @armelcastellan @justinhobson85 @50ShadesofVan @Brad604 @jwhittalTWN @MurphTWN sweet, now we can jetski around the seawall
@RyanVoutilainen @armelcastellan @justinhobson85 @50ShadesofVan @Brad604 @jwhittalTWN @MurphTWN Guess the seawall will be closed all through springtime for the repairs to be completed. Certainly a challenge to repair and the cost to the city will be astronomical.
#BCStorm
@RyanVoutilainen @FriendsOScience @armelcastellan @justinhobson85 @50ShadesofVan @Brad604 @jwhittalTWN @MurphTWN Is this seawall West Van or English Bay?
@RyanVoutilainen @armelcastellan @justinhobson85 @50ShadesofVan @jwhittalTWN @MurphTWN This is tough to watch after witnessing first hand the January 7th, 2022 Storm. Fingers crossed it isn't as bad as that one. But unlikely the Seawall isn't closed for a while.
