💯 Watching the women in my life my entire life, I've witnessed this constantly. And often downplayed by men. (repost @emrazz)
@Ryan_Travis @emrazz Women's labor isn't unpaid: married men give most of their income to women. And single mothers have made a free choice to have a kid and can damned well pay for the consequences themselves.
@Ryan_Travis @emrazz It’s not this way because of some patriarchal conspiracy or oppression, it has a lot to do with a mother’s inate ability to bond through breast feeding and the general nurturing nature of feminine energy.
@Ryan_Travis @RochelleDQ @emrazz Because the government of the United States 🇺🇸 feels giving money to foreign countries ( to some that want to kill us ) is more important than taking care of women , veterans, and our elderly. THINGS NEED TO CHANGE
People in the US don’t appreciate the job of a mother and wife as other countries do. It’s an obvious issue here. If you look at other countries, mothers and wives are seen with more respect, admiration, and gratefulness. You don’t hear much say “all she does is take care of the house” or “all she does is take care of the children” because that would be extremely disrespectful and other men would come at you for it. Here in the US, I even see women downplaying their own roles. This is especially true for religious women. The narrative is “I’m glad all I have to worry about is raising the children, and nothing else” as if raising a whole human is no easy feat.
@Ryan_Travis @emrazz Cheap AND cruel...a double loss!
@Ryan_Travis @emrazz Why doesn’t somebody take care of my kid for free? Is this the question you’re asking?
@Ryan_Travis @emrazz It gets me that these are framed as 'women's issues' rather than 'family issues'.
@Ryan_Travis @emrazz Odd, my wife got food, housing and money for clothes, makeup, books, and whatever else she needed in return for her labors for our home and children. Now she gets to draw a check that is half my SS in value and still gets all the other benefits of being a wife and grandmother.
