The highways to Fort Simpson are very slippery due to last weekend's freezing rain, melting and refreezing. Slow down and drive safe.
Fort Simpson's Lafferty Ferry at the Liard River crossing will close for the season at 11:45 pm Monday, November 3 due to low water levels.
Fort Simpson received its first big snowfall of the season of 13-16 cm of snow fell overnight and roads may be slippery so drive carefully.
This fall 8 bears + cubs have been seen around the landfill and a few have ventured into the Village looking for garbage, berries and pets.
A black bear has been spotted behind the Northern Store today. Its bear season so be bear aware, travel with other people and make noise.
Smoke from regional forest fires has settled into Fort Simpson over night and the thick smoke makes for very poor visibility on the roads.
People in Fort Simpson with respiratory problems are advised to stay indoors until the smoke clears in the MacKenzie River Valley.

Lot 580 Plan 3785 will be placed on the 2015 Tax Auction List, Dolly Cazon, the LKFN Band, GNWT Housing Corp and DIAND need time to assess.
Council voted to pull Lot 580 Plan 3785 Dolly Cazon from the 2014 Tax Auction List to allow time for proof of title transfer from the GNWT.
