Happy Heritage Day! Today we celebrate togetherness, diversity, and the power of sport that unites us. At SASAPD, our heritage is inclusion, giving Para athletes the chance to shine and inspire.
Meet Rob Jordaan, SASAPD Para Judo Convener & 6th Dan. A judoka since the age of 6, he currently serves as 2ndnVP of Judo SA, and has championed visually impaired judokas for decades, helping them compete with pride. His dream: to see one of his athletes win a Paralympic medal.
The final Gauteng Trials take place on 25 October 2025, giving athletes the chance to earn world ranking points. If you’re aiming for a spot at the 2026 National Championships in Stellenbosch, this is your last chance to make the Gauteng team.
From volunteer in 2015 to leader in 2025 – meet Lezanne Bruwer, SASAPD Athletics Convener. She says: “Limits are only illusions, and it’s an honour to walk alongside these athletes.” Thank you, Lezanne, for reminding us that Para athletics is a celebration of the human spirit.
Gauteng Trials are coming to Germiston on 13 September, 27 September and 25 October (WPA-approved – world ranking points up for grabs). Athletes must compete in 2 meets to qualify for Stellenbosch 2026. Enter via your club or school. Entries close 2 weeks before each date meet.
