It appears when you compare Reddit topics on Turkey's earthquake and election topics, you get highly varied results on deleted posts versus negative sentiment topic clusters. This will be a long-term project on content deletions and victim-blaming behavior.
@MFATurkiye @trpresidency @diyanet_en Group E asks a philosophical question: We always study what *is* in computational social science. What happens when we try to study what *isn't*? That is, how do we infer social behavior from deleted data, and can we link that to self-censorship and victim-blaming behavior?
@MFATurkiye @trpresidency Group D looks at 10-year variance in Turkey's @diyanet_en Friday sermons, by conducting longitudinal sentiment & topic model analysis. This was an ambitious project & yielded very promising early results. This will be a long-term project on the correlates of khutba topic shifts.
Group C: "Turkey’s Foreign Policy Discourse and Foreign Aid Behavior" conducts long-term @MFATurkiye statement NLP analysis to infer Turkey's foreign aid behavior from its foreign policy content analysis. Future work will include @trpresidency statements for greater robustness
Group B: "In-Group Favoritism & Ideological Tendencies: Attitudes Toward Sexual Harassment Accusations on Reddit" compares multiple zero-shot NLP models to model Cuomo vs Moore accusations on Reddit to generate broader harassment content patterns.
This was a highly innovative approach to predicting gentrification and its effects, not least by its great overview of the theories and data involved in measuring gentrification patterns using publicly available API data.
Group A - "Understanding Gentrification through Machine Learning" uses a broad range of census data and Google Maps API to infer changes in a wide range of amenities across Brussels neighbourhoods.
