Friend of mine has a house, a wonderful wife, two great kids, a good job. And he’s quitting it to go back to grad school for a career he’s more “passionate” about. This will involve little income for a few years and 200k in loans. Wish I could stop him. “You must be passionate about your work” is the biggest lie my generation was sold.

@SMB_path @SullyBusiness I had a counsellor challenge me on this: In many cases, hating the job is a “me problem”, not a job problem. And if it’s a me problem, then working on myself can solve that problem, regardless of my job.
@SMB_path @SullyBusiness The dread isn’t necessarily limited to the job type. I’ve felt dread where I loved my job but had a sh*t boss or colleagues
