On this day in 1946, Isaac Woodard, WWII veteran, hours after being honorably discharged, was attacked by South Carolina police while still in uniform when taking the bus home & left permanently BLIND The officers were acquitted by an all white jury. —Isaac enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1942 at Fort Jackson in Columbia, S.C, and served in the Pacific Theater as a longshoreman in a labor battalion. In February 1946, the decorated soldier received an honorable discharge at Camp Gordon, which is located near Augusta, Georgia. Along with other discharged soldiers, Woodard boarded a Greyhound bus on February 12 to travel home. A conflict was triggered when the white bus driver belittled the army veteran for asking to take a bathroom break. At the next stop, Woodard was met by the Chief Linwood Shull of the Batesburg, South Carolina police. While still in his army uniform, the police forcibly removed him from the bus and arrested him for disorderly conduct. They beat Woodward, and the next day he was convicted of 'drunken and disorderly conduct' and fined $50. They also refused to take him to hospital after beating him for several days. The beatings that he suffered while in police custody caused him Permanent Blindness. 🖊️As the only admin behind this page, I try to research to educate. HE’S RIGHT💡: rising US interest rates are causing large-cap to corporates get BIGGER & RICHER bc they hold so much cash, despite also being huge borrowers. It’s “bonkers” indeed & it’s a subtlety of idiotic US tax policy. Instead of repatriating overseas profits & paying a huge tax when they do, mega-cap companies just issue debt at their US holding companies & service that debt over time with profits from their overseas subsidiaries, thus deferring the tax hit. The impact? The big keep getting bigger & the proverbial “rich men north of Richmond” keep getting richer. There is literally nothing “free-market” about this—it’s one of the many, subtle ways the status quo US system works against smaller businesses and Main Street.

@mklopez Come and get it, but it's left over breakfast.

I really think we aught to give the edge browser another chance. It's fast. Faster than Chrome. I'm trying it again today after not using it for years. I'm comparing it to Chrome and I have to say It’sloading most websites faster than Chrome.

@BrinkOvlov @simonateba They actually just released previously frozen funds. It's not tax payer money. I'm not saying it's ok but, it's not as bad. I thought "We didn't negotiate with Terrorists".
