SSU Networking @SSU_Networking

We are seeing a very large number of devices on the Guest WiFi. While that wifi will give you temporary access, you will need to sign in every 12 hours. For consistent and secure wifi, please use eduroam or salemstate. For your IoT devices, enroll them on salemstate-iot .

@JPC0301 See if people around you have the channels. If so, the issue is probably with your TV. Rescan. If not, send a message to the ITS Help Desk and we'll check the distribution point and, if necessary, your cabling. Sometimes a power outage causes this too.

@JPC0301 1st I apologize for never responding. I didn't get notification. Local channels are received via an antenna and re-transmitted through our system. They are not impacted by weather. if you aren't getting them, there is either a cabling issue or electronics (yours or ours).

We are happy to announce that we will be upgrading the WiFi in the Harrington Building on South Campus. This work will happen during intercession and be completed before classes resume next month! #SSU #SSUNet #SalemState

On 1/13/22 we will be completing the migration to our new high-speed backbone. On-campus services will be periodically disrupted beginning at 6p. The work should be completed by midnight. #SSU #SSUNet #SSUResNet #SalemState

Community emails went out on this, but just a reminder of up-coming maintenance as we continue to upgrade the SSU Network. 7/6 Sullivan Building (local outages); 7/11 the Internet connects will be moved to the new high-speed backbone (University-wide outages).

There will be a brief interruption of #SSUTV services on Central Campus while we cut over power for an upgrade to our backup electricity. The outage will be about 20-30 minutes. This will repeat on Thursday morning when we cut over to the new system.

The issue causing the slowness that plagued the #SalemState network the last few weeks has been identified and corrected. A fiber-optic component had begun to fail, but didn't fail completely (which would have been easier to find). It has been replaced.

we are aware of the issue with local channels, especially 5.1, on the #SSUTV system and are working to correct. Local channels will be interrupted this morning while the technician troubleshoots.

We are aware of sporadic slowness loading web pages when on the SSU network. We have isolated the problem, but do not have a fix yet. This will most likely persist over the weekend, but we have a team of SSU and external resources scheduled to investigate further on Monday.

We will be performing an upgrade on the FortiNAC system tonight, starting at 7p, to correct the issues causing game consoles, smart tvs and similar devices to not register properly. If you are already connected to the network, you *shouldn't* be impacted.

The issue with the Intel driver is not an issue with our wireless network. It is an issue with Windows 10. In this age of malware, ransomware and viruses, it is in your best interests to stay up to date anyway.

If you are running Windows 10 with an Intel wireless network card, you may need to update the driver to get on the network. This may mean you need to connect to another network (using your phone as a hotspot or in one of the academic buildings) to download the update.

We are experiencing an issue with the registration of secondary devices - game consoles, smart tv's - on the new SSU WiFi. We are working with the registration company to correct this. Computers (desktops and laptops) as well as smartphones & tablets should be ok now. #SSUTV

@ravenofdark1 Sorry, just seeing this now. DM me with more info and i will reach out to you tomorrow

Look for the new eGaming Pavilion at Marsh Hall Dining. The TV's have been installed and can be used to watch #SSUTV now. And in the next few days a PS4 Pro and Xbox One X will be available for everyone to use!!!

Welcome back Salem State students and faculty! The new #SSUTV cable system is up and running. Here is the new channel guide for the spring semester.

Salem State is happy to announce a change in the TV service to reflect the stations requested most. Here is the new lineup. You'll need to rescan your TV on campus once the new system is active 1/10/2020. The channel guide will be available on channel 6.1 #SSUTV

@dkerns104 It popped up on my Google newsfeed yesterday. cordcuttersnews.com/att-disney-may…

It appears DirecTV and Disney (ABC, ESPN) have reached an agreement, so channels will not be blacked out on #SSUTV

We will be performing an upgrade to the over-the-air channels on 9/17. During the upgrade, channels 25 and lower may not be available. After the upgrade is complete, we *should* have WGBH back in HD. You may have to rescan to receive it. #SSUTV
