@MultiModalGeoff If only Quorum would put in pedestrian crossings near the entrance. But they won’t as it would slow traffic, too many pedestrians.

@realdonkiddick @33slates @alzrnb @EdCycleHome @LivingStreetsEd Just placing a sign in the road risks it falling over and becoming a serious hazzard to cyclists or motorcycles (as it would on the path). Signs on the road have a cone at the side to warn road users of the obstruction. Safest place for sign without a cone is in a hedge.

@MSROPER10 @NewcastleCC Yeah that’s why I was wondering if they had left any in place, even outside those cages. Seemed a secure place opposite the security hut. Wonder if this was installed because it was needed, or it was only place they could put one (vs elsewhere in the city).

@MSROPER10 @NewcastleCC This is the standard with these style racks. Very popular with Dutch train stations to maximise numbers but unlike the Dutch we tend to choose nicer bikes so have to worry more about theft.

@MSROPER10 @NewcastleCC There is a small hoop around where the pedals would be. You use a chain or cable lock through that and around the frame or wheel.

@2wheelsnot4 Had the beeps stopped? Doesn’t matter does it. Pedestrians retain priority. Ploughed? Rode between people, forcing second one to stop. Was anyone in danger? If either per had panicked the rider couldn’t have stopped.

@cookson_mike @gazza_d @space4gosforth @MayorJD @N_landCouncil @TWPTUG Ok sure, it severs the connection to Cramlington if you ignore the 6 other locations it’s already ‘severed’ by even busier roads on the 2 mile route. Of course I’m not saying that’s good, and building in long term conflict should be avoided, but a sense of scale is needed
