A question was asked to us, and we’re looking for a genuine answer. Why is it that boy’s middle school has a state tournaments, but girl’s middle school does not? What can we do to remedy the situation? Doesn’t seem fair, does it? Kind of devalues the girls game in our opinion.
@SWOH_W_Lacrosse It just takes someone to organize it. The OMSLA Boys State tournament is not a state official event. It is a fundraiser for the host organization but because of its history, solid operation, central location and high participation level it is the defacto state tournament.
@SWOH_W_Lacrosse The Shamrock Invitational @coffmanlaxinvit hosts around 35 girls MS lax teams this weekend. Most teams are from the central Ohio area, but several are from outside.
@SWOH_W_Lacrosse The boys MS lax tournament is much larger, with 80 teams this year. I'd love to see The Shamrock expand to include more MS teams to give the girls a true MS state championship.
@SWOH_W_Lacrosse @DowningTeri They had one last year in Columbus
@SWOH_W_Lacrosse It’s not an OHSAA sanctioned tournament. Just a clever name by the tournament organizers
@SWOH_W_Lacrosse It’s a fundraiser for the hosts who support both high school and middle school boys and girls programs.
