However, I disagree that we need to implement findings of local investigations before doing a #MaternityInquiry @Safe_Maternity: 1) local reviews have limited ToR and are not set up to address national problems. 2) we want to implement local findings while a PI is underway.
I welcome this comment from @wesstreeting. He clearly understands there is a system-wide problem in maternity care - something the government continues to deny. I'm also pleased he recognises this is not just a staffing issue, and that culture and listening are critical.

Another horrific and preventable baby death at @UHSussex - Esme died after her mum repeatedly called for help because of stabbing pains and bleeding. Mum Chloe was told to 'live her life' and 'go to Waitrose' when she was suffering with a deadly placental abruption.

@Safe_Maternity Horrifying that there are ppl expecting a baby right now (or not even pregnant yet) that have unbearable grief in front of them and they don’t even know it. The govt is willing to devastate more lives before it deems the crisis worthy of action. I wonder how many is enough?

@ReynoldsLynda @Safe_Maternity IIRC, when taking into account downstream costs of incontinence and prolapse treatments, an elective CS costs the NHS only £75 more compared to VB. One delayed CS can lead to a multimillion pound settlement for lifetime care for a disabled child. His maths is wrong.

@Safe_Maternity @prof_standards Can we also take a look at the way hospitals are graded. West Middlesex maternity recently got good/outstanding but when you look at the criteria it's almost exclusively because their own staff feel looked after, not patients. Will be doing a thread on this issue over the weekend
@Safe_Maternity @Gibbo4Darlo I really couldn’t care less if you had “some sympathy” for me. Infact please don’t. I don’t need sympathy, I need you to understand that healthy mothers and babies are dying and they shouldn’t be. Would you still say the same if it was one of your relatives.
