Opinion Somalia Weaponizes Emotion — Should Somaliland Face Reality? This week, @IbraM2035 wrote a compelling piece urging Somaliland to adopt pragmatic policies over emotional ones. He warns that clinging to pan-Somali unity allows Somalia to exploit Somaliland’s vulnerabilities. Somalia alone pursues an official policy to erase Somaliland, and expecting brotherhood from a state that once bombed your cities is a misunderstanding of sovereignty. ibrahimbaqardhe.substack.com/p/somalia-and-…

🚨 Somalia's New Shipping Restrictions Raise Alarm 1⃣ Journalist @Saeed_Bakran01 warns that Somalia's new restrictions on shipments to Berbera port in Somaliland could destabilize regional maritime security. Observers liken the move to a Houthi-style threat in the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden.

#Ethiopian Airlines, IATA and FlyDubai update guidance on #Somaliland visa-on-arrival as U.S. confirms Somalia e-Visa breach Ethiopian Airlines, the International Air Transport Association (#IATA) and #FlyDubai have issued updated travel guidance confirming that passengers travelling to Somaliland can obtain visas on arrival at #Hargeisa Egal International Airport (HGA) and #Berbera Airport (BBO). The updates come as a major breach of Somalia’s e-Visa platform prompted a security alert from the #United_States. Ethiopian Airlines said Somalia’s e-Visa requirements “do not apply to passengers arriving at Berbera (BBO) or Hargeisa Egal International (HGA),” and reaffirmed that travellers to Somaliland may obtain visas upon arrival. The bulletin underscores Somaliland’s independently administered immigration system. IATA updated its global travel information earlier, noting that visa-on-arrival is available at Somaliland airports and distinguishing these procedures from Somalia’s e-Visa system. The notice explicitly lists Hargeisa as a destination where passengers can receive visas at the airport. FlyDubai subsequently revised its advisory to confirm that passengers headed to Somaliland may obtain visas upon arrival at both Hargeisa and Berbera. The airline’s guidance separates Somaliland’s entry procedures from Somalia’s e-Visa process and directs passengers accordingly. The wave of updates followed an urgent alert issued by the U.S. Embassy in Somalia, which confirmed that hackers had breached Somalia’s e-Visa platform. According to the Embassy, the intrusion may have exposed the personal information of at least 35,000 applicants, including thousands of U.S. citizens. The leaked data includes names, passport photos, dates and places of birth, marital status, email addresses and home addresses. The U.S. government has urged American citizens who used Somalia’s e-Visa system to contact their nearest embassy and monitor for suspicious activity. horndiplomat.com/2025/11/iata-f…

SOMALILAND’S STRENGTHENED GLOBAL POSTURE AND IRREVERSIBLE SOVEREIGNTY Somaliland’s foreign policy has entered a phase of strategic consolidation, with international partners increasingly recognizing the strength of its institutions, the resilience of its democracy, and its pivotal role in regional stability. Rising diplomatic engagement confirms a clear global assessment: Somaliland is an anchor of peace, stability, democratic governance and rule of law in a volatile and unpredictable Horn of Africa. Under th leadership of a visionary leader, H.E. President @Abdirahmanirro, Somaliland’s peace and reconciliation process has strengthened national cohesion and reinforced state legitimacy; while Somalia remains mired in cyclical fragmentation. Mogadishu’s attempts to manufacture disputes only expose its own political insecurity, not authority. The Government of the Republic of Somaliland will safeguard this sovereignty with decisive resolve; politically, diplomatically, and, if ever required, through the full weight of national power. No external agitation will alter our status, our dignity, or our trajectory as a sovereign state. #RecognizeSomaliland #Sovereignty #SomalilandAirspace #AviationSafety

Israel Set to Re-Recognize Somaliland: Diplomatic Sources According to official diplomatic sources and discussions observed across social media from Somaliland citizens, Israel 🇮🇱 is poised to become the second country to re-recognize the Republic of Somaliland. Israel was originally among the 35 nations that recognized Somaliland on June 26, 1960, following its independence from the British Empire. A special analysis highlights that President Abdirahman Irro of Somaliland sent a letter to world leaders on May 17, 2025, calling for official re-recognition. He specifically appealed to U.S. President Donald Trump, emphasizing the strategic and economic benefits such recognition could bring to the United States, Somaliland, the Horn of Africa, and the international community.
