I usually like to get all my frustration analysis out of the way on Monday, so I’m going to (I really want to be an obnoxious asshole to Washington fans for the rest of the week). 🚨Please read all of this before commenting on it. I know it’s a lot. I tried to make this flow & really try to make my point clear. I’m not mad at the Eagles necessarily, I’m mad at how Jalen Hurts is being mistreated by media🚨 I think the constant & overwhelming evaluation of Jalen Hurts comes simply because of what this offense is structured for him to do. He isn’t asked to do a ton & I think that’s pretty bad. From an outside perspective, it’s usually hard to distinguish what’s on a player & what’s on a coach(es). I think, when analyzing the product the #Eagles put on the field, it’s easy to distinguish that the coaches aren’t helping their QB. When watching the offense in 2022 & parts of 2023, it was catered through Jalen Hurts. They played a consistent & reliable offense that put Hurts in situations to be comfortable & at his best. Over the past few years, it has almost completely flipped on its axis. We can sit here & discuss the importance of it all, or lack thereof, because they’re winning. And, for the most part, I agree. But when the guy is being analyzed to hell & back, I just cannot sit on my hands & not have an opinion. Jalen Hurts is strongly in the crosshairs for not being asked to do much. Watching the tape makes me cringe at times, because I’m watching a really good NFL QB play a style of football that is usually catered to bad NFL QBs. The fact that they can’t find a balance attack with the talent on this offense is so frustrating as a fan. I get it, it’s their style. And it’s working! But I just can’t really get over the evaluation of Jalen Hurts, mostly because I find critics are trying to evaluate WHAT’S NOT THERE. We’re watching a really good player & passing attack be minimized so the team can run a very run heavy & defense reliant brand of football. Jalen Hurts being publicly criticized for that is nothing short of annoying. I hope what I’m trying to say makes sense. I’m sure some people will misinterpret this as me being unfulfilled with a really good football team. I’m not & I don’t care how they win. But seeing someone be completely misunderstood is frustrating. I find myself doing it at times, too.
