NEWS: After 3.5 years, SpaceX has finally received in-principle approval to operate Starlink in India. This was the final major hurdle SpaceX needed to overcome. Now, it goes to the desk of communications minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, who is expected to sign off.
@SawyerMerritt Starlink is gonna be used pretty less in India. It will probably be too expensive for majority of the households and corportates in India.
@SawyerMerritt The comment that "expected to sign off" is telling. The minister is not empowered to take a decision and is only rubber stamping it.
@SawyerMerritt Correct. I’ve been waiting for this for some time. We use @Starlink when we are in Northern Wisconsin in the US and will be using it as soon as this launches in India in both Mumbai and Goa. Starlink is just phenomenal.
@SawyerMerritt @farzyness He sure knows how to secure deals 😎 Art of the Musk
@SawyerMerritt Starlink will be very useful for rural areas everywhere specially in India where ~ 70% its population lives. Nothing else can solve the last mile problem efficiently. Hope @elonmusk can find a sweat spot for pricing. Rural areas in every country are less affluent vs urban areas.
