Did you know you can use slow motion video to try and see where the problem is occurring on moving parts?
Ring light + sheller + slow motion video to rule out one possible rubbing connection point
Note to self:
When you have a not so, secret, secret supply of materials, hiding in plain sight, maybe don’t leave them for years on end in a plastic trash bag😅
Don’t wait too long…
Going through another round of checking videos & scrap notes to consolidate notes of the season about
-nicking for diff hybrid pairs … which male or female to change delay planting
-what notes of ‘you should’ve done this’ for field design or planting
‘Past Lisa’ trying to make current Lisa chuckle over a video that is meant to ‘document an event’ (usually in the cornfield) to change some field records / my internal ‘policy’ etc
(Starts watching video some weeks/months later & hears ‘Past Lisa’ say….)
“Captains log…” 🤣
You've been asking & here's your answer! This was the 2nd wettest July Ames has seen on record.
Only to be topped by the flooding rains of 1993, when the Iowa State Center was mostly underwater.
We have almost completed our entire year's worth of rainfall in just 7 months 🤯
Shootbagging is a (field based) example of gaslighting
Ending the day convinced you covered every single shoot in a project, only to come in the next morning and find 100s or 1,000s more needing to be covered
No… I did it all yesterday…. I know it 🤨😞😅
It’s pre-7 AM
Already gross out
And my shoes are squishy
Gonna be a rough one for the 400 mass pollinations and 100+selfs to make (plus setting up however I can for tomorrow)
The pollen did not shed for me until noon. And even then the bags were damp-ish for all the pollinations I had to make
And the highs heat up the next 2 days with 100F+ heat index …
Let’s just say I am not a fan. Hopefully tomorrow goes smooth with earlier pollen shed 🤞
Holy rain!
After the latest heavy rainfall, we are now over 5" above normal for July.
The South Skunk River sits at 17' this morning (action stage is 19').
On the year, we have nearly topped 30" (avg. for the entire year is 36" 😳)
This bumblebee likes to stay perched on the tassel bags.
This is day 2 (but a different tassel)
We’ll have to see which one he likes tomorrow because when he did a brief fly off, I made the cross.
BREAKING: A Flood Watch has been issued for @IowaStateU from 7 PM Thursday through 7 AM Friday for potential flooding from excessive rainfall tonight.
Areas that see heavy accumulations could quickly see flooding conditions.
