NASA has contracts with SpaceX and Boeing for 6 operational crew missions to ISS. Steve Stich says they're likely to add missions to both SpaceX and Boing crew contracts within the next few months, but declines to offer specifics.
@SciGuySpace Does ULA have any spare Atlas V boosters for additional Starliner lunches?
@SciGuySpace Boeing, twice the cost for half the production… 👎🏻 🤔 wake up NASA
@SciGuySpace Though Boeing is a much older company and a company to reckon with but it's Space X which has delivered payloads to ISS time and again with precision and accuracy. Boeing has had a tough time past 2 years trying to sort the Max issues. Deliveries have been hit very badly.
@SciGuySpace Maybe it's possible NASA will add *options* for Boeing missions, but only if there's a clause re a successful test flight and continued successful flights.
@SciGuySpace Add Boeing’s missions to SpaceX and just be done with it. Really, NASA has been patient enough with Boeing to get their act together with Starliner. It’s long past time for them to deliver.
@SciGuySpace Boing ! The trampoline is working !
@SciGuySpace I think SpaceX has a dilemma (but it is a good one to have). How many crew dragons do they need? They know crew dragon has a limited life, to be replaced by Starship. Too many variables, how many crew dragon contracts will they get? Speed of Starship progress?
@SciGuySpace Both? Before Boeing has even figured out how to get to the ISS?
@SciGuySpace problem for Boeing, no one asked....There is no more atlas 5 to purchase at no rides for additional starliner missions...did no one seriously follow up on this??? space reporters fail!!
