DM: Question: I live in an area where there are only a handful of top clubs to choose from. The ECNL teams are losing every time they head to showcase tournaments. My club is ECRL but we are WINNING- we will be going to USYS National Championships for the third straight year. Do I have to move to ECNL to be considered at top D1 schools? -Recruit #CSTruth Yes! Especially when perception matters. If you drive a Ford or Chevy, then you don’t come from money. If you drive a BMW or Mercedes then you must have money. If you don’t play ECNL, you must not be good. If you play ECNL, you must be good. We’re all guilty of being judgmental and there are A LOT of coaches, especially your D1’s that ONLY recruit ECNL. Congratulations, you’re successful but you’ll be attending an event with minimal to no college coaches while those ecnl teams that are losing to better competition will be showcased at tournaments in front of hundreds of colleges. At the end of the day, it’s a clear yes, ECNL gives you the best opportunity of NCAA D1 soccer because they provide the best platform to be seen at events where Iron tends to sharpen Iron. Make the move and go ECNL.

DM: Do recruits actually get recruited to a D1 programs from ID camps? -Parent #CSTruth: Yes, you just don’t hear about it a lot because it’s very competitive. Maybe 1 or 2 per camp,….maybe. Listen here’s the harsh reality, you have to be good to play D1.

There are 662 D1 verbal commitments for the 2025 class here is the current breakdown by platform. #ECNL - 493 (74.5%) #GirlsAcademy - 137 (20.7%) 🇨🇦 - 19 (2.9%) All Others - 13 (1.9%) Lots of misinformation on where a majority of D1 players come from.

For those that are saying 34% is not too bad: Here’s a harsh Truth to think about. If you’re a parent paying academy/ecnl dues (men’s) you now KNOW that over 1/3 of the potential roster spots available are going to be filled by internationals. TRUTH! So that leaves less than 1,000 roster spots for American kids on an NCAA tourney teams! How many kids play youth soccer again? Yup! #CSTruth

NCAA D2, D3, NAIA and private schools vs NCAA D1 dilemma that a lot of recruits are faced with. A lot of recruits if they don’t get option A would also rather not play college soccer than sink in massive college debt for soccer. #CSTruth

Recruits, Which scenario would you choose? A: Attend an ESPN school everyone knows, barely play, but graduate with under $10,000 in debt. Or B: Attend a school no one has ever heard of, be a starter for 4 years but graduate with $60,000+ in debt. #CSTruth

DM: Does an ECNL player (girl) gain anything by participating in ODP? It’s very expensive in our state, they take everyone, so large group trainings, and frankly feels like one big pyramid scheme. Daughter is afraid to miss out on exposure but I’m not seeing it? -Parent #CSTruth Nothing! Other than more training and playing but from a college recruiting stand point, nothing. ECNL is all you need. Save your money. Save it for your club events, ID camps, and showcases as you well know you will need it. ODP is like getting a HS accolade…it’s good for memories, nothing more. From a recruiting standpoint nobody cares for it for exposure. It used to be a big deal, those days are long gone.

I call bullshit on the # of hrs some teachers are assigning of homework. There is no reason for any kid to have 3+ hours. It contributes to fatigue. Impacts extracurriculars that are critical for development too. And, leads kids to hate/resent learning and school. Ease back...

Still debating which youth club ⚽️ league is better on the women’s side? The college coaches scouting attendance was MUCH lower at the GA event than the ECNL event this weekend.(Same weekend) Even the USA 🇺🇸 scouts favored ECNL this weekend.@ECNLgirls @GAcademyLeague #CSTruth
