excellent definitely-not-a-filler article, Nintendo Life my favourite part is how the content is just a summary of a YouTube short from 9 months ago(!) and that's not even getting to the fact that this is the type of thing that we should be seeing in 2017, not 2024
before I did that one stream a few weeks ago, I had no idea that stream overlays were made with HTML + CSS + JavaScript (for those not in the know: they're just transparent Chrome windows layered on top of the video) extremely cursed imo, but I can see why it's done like this
sometimes I encounter documents where the writer has bolded a bunch of things to emphasize them problem: if you bold nearly everything, bolded text just becomes "normal" and it loses its ability to emphasize things bonus points for overusing underlines too
wonder if Nintendo should return losing animations in Splatoon from a player psychology standpoint, it seems a bit unnecessary to make the losing team watch the winners do their victory emotes hell, could even just immediately go back to the lobby to speed things up
there's nothing quite like playing a horror game and having to constantly pause because you're too scared of what's going to happen next and then you just stare at the pause screen laughing at yourself for being a baby while also working up the courage to continue good times

when I was a kid I got hit really hard in my upper body with a soccer ball (I was walking by and was just unlucky) ever since then, even as an adult, I've been very hesitant of being near anywhere where a soccer ball is being kicked around guess that's some childhood trauma

@SentientOats I played in Splatoon Hong Kong Championships (both the preliminary round and final round). We have non-noise-canceling headsets, and no team VC. You just say things out loud, and hope your team hears you. I could hear the commentators and audience, and I find it distracting.
@SentientOats these tournaments have always been a marketing spectacle first and a competition second. worlds uses ex-demo units, some with hardware faults. au players in 2019 said they got switches that still had the profiles we'd set up in 2018. they even had the same controller problems.
@SentientOats 2018 there was no vc in the aunz finals but I'm fairly certain there was vc in all the finals after that. worlds 2018 meanwhile went as far as a proper audio setup at each booth with a mixer for game audio and vc. I'd expect vc at worlds, but the other issues will likely remain
@SentientOats all champs besides Japan had headsets At NA champs we had noise cancelling headphones and vc, it has also been confirmed at worlds we will have vc. I think Japan is going to do vc domestically but kept no vc for the integrity that they kept it all year tho i could be wrong
