Infra engineering involves a ton of reacting. Reacting to pages, performance issues, costs, etc. With app dev, that’s not the case. Working code isn’t enough. Extensive testing happens before you ship. Time for a shift in DevOps.

Overlooking idle compute is irresponsible as an engineering or finance leader, but diverting focus to build a homegrown solution isn’t the answer either.
“Why are you better than your competitors?” I’ve actually faced the problem for years. Is that a solid answer? 😄
GPU costs are crushing a lot of AI-native companies rn. Most workloads are dynamic, but infra is still being run with static settings- leading to massive waste. AI is a race. You have to move fast. But speed without efficiency isn’t sustainable.

Feel like this is bound to happen for years to come. Reliability = Profitability.
Reliability > cost-savings. The most successful enterprises always prioritized reliability even during recessions. Cost-savings is a nice-to-have, but it’s not how you build a multi-billion dollar empire.
