insane how the only notable change since Sandy Hook is that kids are now formally trained to hide, barricade doors, fight, or run for their lives. that was the solution. to literally put the responsibility on them to figure it out and wish them luck.

The fear mongering regarding CRT is aimed at banning all teaching of substance on the past and current devastation of white supremacy/racism. It is cruel to quote my father, who was assassinated for working to eradicate racism, poverty and militarism, to facilitate that fear.

I believe that the fear mongering regarding CRT is intended to usher in the banning of any teaching of substance on the history of slavery and racism and on the current devastation of racism. And I oppose quoting my father to facilitate that fear and to usher in that banning.

Apparently, only conservatives have free speech rights that need protecting and everything else is just “racial justice” run amok, even as states are literally banning the teaching of entire areas of educational inquiry, “divisive” histories and a work of American journalism. Ok.

Teaching children that racism doesn’t exist doesn’t magically mean that racism won’t exist in their lives. Children who grow up in race-averse homes (as opposed to race-aware) tend to be shocked by the realities of racism when they’re young adults.
