@JoshuaBarzon I'm a pastor in NC who developed a software platform / web app for pastors to manage their pastoral care - prayer lists, regular contact, regular visits, etc... Think of it as a system to put books like "The Shepherd Leader" and "The Reformed Pastor" into practice.
Pastors need fellow pastors!
Take a listen to another one of our Pillar pastors, Pastor Josh Rosentreter, talk about two specific ways that the Pillar Network has benefited his church. - We love hearing these stories across these last few weeks and we hope that you've been encouraged by them as well!
"[Deep] affection is, in some degree, in every true minister of Christ. They are full of sympathy over whom the Holy Spirit has made them overseers." Thomas Watson
"There are two things in every minister of Christ that are much exercised: His head with labor, and his heart with love." - Thomas Watson (From: "A Pastor's Love Expressed to a Loving People.")
@bible_standard_ Will you take an Android phone user? 😁 I've also got an iPad and a MacBook Air. I'm all about helpful apps, would love to test!
@philipnation Can't go wrong with any of these! For pastors, Earley (top middle) and Henderson (bottom left) are key. 🔥 The other 3 are perfect for any and all Christians - all three are centered around praying scripturally.
Prayer is the great bridge between the sowing and sleeping of Mark 4:27.
Matthew Henry, commenting on Acts 3:12, with a word to the pastor: "Useful men must see to it that they be very humble."
Bruce McClennan on Samuel Rutherford: "Never content when his time of preaching had ended, he reasoned with souls to make their calling and election sure, to follow after holiness, putting much emphasis on sanctification and mortification." Pastor, go beyond the pulpit!
Pastor - do you prioritize time with the flock like you prioritize your time in the study? "Fixed hours of the day, portioned with a due regard to all other Ministerial claims, should be devoted to this with the same conscientious determination as to pulpit preparation." (p.345)
A plurality of shepherds can better care for a plurality of sheep.
It seems the reason God gives pastors a job that is too big for one man is that he never intended for one man to do it alone! 9marks.org/article/your-p…
Pastor: you are not an event manager, an org chart filler, a motivational speaker, or a 'worship experience' director. You are a shepherd of God's precious sheep. Let all your work flow from that.
Part of a shepherd's care for their sheep is to train up new shepherds. It is integral to the work. Pastor, you will want this book!
Pastors are formed in local churches. Every church has the opportunity to advance gospel work beyond its own congregation, not only through evangelism and missions, but by training and sending pastors to plant, revitalize, and lead other churches. Churches Multiplying Pastors
"It is a sad indictment that for many pastors, the term 'church growth' is associated with numbers, statistics, and resources, rather than with the spiritual development of those saints the Lord has placed under our spiritual care." @hbcharlesjr (Foreword) @PastorCroft
