Lagos engages landowners, stakeholders on proposed Material Recovery Facilities
The Lagos State Government has commenced engagement with landowners, traditional rulers and other stakeholders over proposed Material Recovery Facilities (MRFs).
The facilities are planned for Erekiti in Badagry and Agbowa in Ikorodu.
The Permanent Secretary, Office of Drainage Services, Mr Mobolaji Gaji, disclosed this at a stakeholders’ meeting held on Thursday in Alausa, Lagos.
Gaji said the proposed facilities formed part of the state’s waste management improvement programme aimed at transitioning Lagos from linear waste disposal to a circular economy.

Lagos is reimagining waste as a resource, not a burden.
From new transfer loading stations and material recovery facilities to waste-to-energy projects and expanded recycling programmes, the State is laying the foundation for a cleaner, healthier and more sustainable future.
A cleaner Lagos will not be achieved by government alone. It requires responsible waste disposal, stronger enforcement, greater investment and the active participation of every resident.
Together, we can turn waste into wealth and build the #CleanerLagos we all deserve.

ONGOING: Following the expiration of compliance notices, LAWMA’s Waste Investigation, Surveillance and Enforcement (WISE) team has commenced the sealing of non-compliant shops and plazas along the Tejuosho–Ojuelegba corridor.
The enforcement action targets premises that failed to comply with waste management regulations and continued the indiscriminate disposal of waste on public roads.
A clean Lagos requires compliance, not convenience. We will continue to enforce environmental laws to protect public health, keep our roads clean, and hold offenders accountable.

LASG Commissions Rehabilitated Road E, New Disposal Platforms at Olusosun Facility to Boost Waste Management Efficiency
… @muyiwag of @Lawma_gov : Upgrades to improve truck access, reduce turnaround time, enhance waste disposal capacity
lagoschronicles.com/lasg-commissio…
Today, we officially commissioned the rehabilitated Road E and the new disposal platforms at the Olusosun Disposal Facility, another important milestone in strengthening Lagos’ waste management infrastructure.
The rehabilitated road and upgraded disposal platforms will improve truck access, increase operational efficiency, reduce turnaround time, and enhance waste disposal capacity in the immediate term.
These improvements are particularly important as we prepare for the planned closure of the Olusosun Disposal Facility following the completion, over the coming months, of the Transfer Loading Station (TLS) and Materials Recovery Facility (MRF) currently under construction by Zoomlion Nigeria Limited. Together, these investments will support our transition from landfill-dependent waste disposal to a more efficient, resource recovery-driven waste management system.
This project reflects Governor @jidesanwoolu’s unwavering commitment to investing in the infrastructure needed to deliver cleaner, more reliable environmental services for Lagosians.
I commend @ZoomlionNigeria for rehabilitating Road E as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility and appreciate our PSP operators and other stakeholders whose continued partnership is essential to the success of our reforms.
Our focus remains on building a modern, efficient and sustainable waste management system that serves the needs of a growing megacity.

Yesterday, I visited the Olusosun Landfill to inspect the rehabilitation of Road E and Platforms E1, E2 and E3 being undertaken by Zoomlion Nigeria as part of their CSR support to @Lawma_gov.
These works will improve access, strengthen site operations and support more efficient waste evacuation. I also spoke with the News Central TV team about the progress and the broader transformation of Lagos’ waste infrastructure.

Today, I combined public engagement with field oversight.
I joined Godwin Etakibuebu, The Guru, and Kayode on Morning Digest on Lagos Talks 91.3 FM to discuss waste management reform, recycling, and the shared responsibility required to keep Lagos clean.
I also visited the Olusosun Disposal Facility to inspect the ongoing rehabilitation of Road E by our partners ZoomLion Nigeria. Improving this access road will reduce delays for compactor trucks, support safer movement within the facility, and strengthen the efficiency of waste evacuation.
A cleaner Lagos depends on sustained investment in infrastructure, better operating systems, and responsible action by government, businesses, and residents.

The ongoing removal of illegal structures and encroachments along the Orile–Okokomaiko median reflects our commitment to a cleaner, safer, and more orderly Lagos.
This joint operation, being carried out by the Task Force, @LAGESCOfficial (KAI), RRS, and @Lawma_gov will continue throughout the week as we reclaim public spaces, protect critical infrastructure, and improve the environment for all residents.
We all have a role to play. Let us respect public spaces and keep Lagos clean.

Across Lagos, the transformation is visible.
From Ikeja to Outer Marina, Badagry to Ojodu, @Lawma_gov's intervention teams continue to tackle waste blackspots, clear road medians, restore public spaces, and improve the environment for residents and commuters alike.
