Atheism is an invalid term, it adds more meaning for being an atheist than it should.,.
@SkinAtheist Ok wise guy, what term would you like for atheists to use? :-)
@SkinAtheist Atheist = lack of belief in deities. That's all. What would you like us to be called?
@SkinAtheist People add on more meaning than there is. For me, it means I believe deities do not exist - that’s it.
Anything ending in "ism" invariably ends up getting lots of extra baggage attached, I guess. Personally though, I think theists often refer to Atheism as a belief system (or even more absurdly a "religion") simply because they struggle to compute how it's even possible to not live your entire life being dictated to by some sort of prescriptive, doctrinal ideology. Or maybe they simply resent the fact that other people choose not to.
@SkinAtheist I don’t understand your argument. Which part of the dictionary definition do you disagree with
@SkinAtheist It’s not an invalid term. People just add more baggage to it than it actually carries.
@SkinAtheist Why isn’t it a valid term? Atheism is just the disbelief in any god
@SkinAtheist And yet you understand perfectly what it means, strange therefore that you call it 'invalid'.
