Lmao Hochul says there’s going to be “community involvement” to determine whether basement apartments are legalized. This whole housing deal doubles down on the failed model of local control and coddling small homeowners/landlords that got NY into this crisis in the first place!

@SoBendito Respectfully disagree - Yes to local zoning but so many units stuck in 'rent stabilization twilight zone' is a big issue. Any big city is going to have affordability issues given the demand/supply gap but not sure which other cities so many units are stuck at below market rents.
@SoBendito sorry, i haven't been following you long enough to understand your POV on the matter: how have small homeowners/LLs gotten NY into a housing crisis?
@SoBendito A. Is there a way we can have community involvement without preventing them from road blocking home construction or is that just community input? B. What can be done to promote more beauty or old school architectural practices like in Europe?
@SoBendito God, it’s long past time someone challenges the constitutionality of local control on school segregation grounds, as it is the primary continued enforcement mechanism in the de facto violation of Brown v BOE
