Children having to be opted out of religious education is not the inclusive policy it claims to be. Having children idly spectate during faith formation is deeply othering. Faith formation must be moved out of school hours, says @SocDems candidate for Donaghmede, @pmonahanjr .
@SocDems @pmonahanjr Most parents are happy. If you lot have a problem don't send your children to Catholic schools. There are ET and protestant schools. Don't expect everyone to change because of your anti Catholic views
@SocDems @pmonahanjr Then don't go to a Catholic school.
@SocDems @pmonahanjr Pandering to the far left, are we? @SocDems
@SocDems @pmonahanjr In Educate Together schools children transitioning is the new religion. There is no opt out in one's belief. It is an aspirational goal.
@SocDems @pmonahanjr No religion in any school.. clans of perverts
@SocDems @pmonahanjr Why is this all centred around Christianity? Are they going to stop Muslims from praying in schools, too
@SocDems @pmonahanjr Othering? Hmm there many many more important issues
@SocDems @pmonahanjr If parents are adamant that they don’t want their child exposed to any kind of religion then there may be consequences depending on resources of schools. Parents can decide whether consequences are worth it same as for all other options out options.
