@SoccerHeretic I just faced this exact realization. After years of coaching/playing soccer together and having great team/development success and great memories, when my boys said they wanted to try other sports I realized I knew of no reason I shouldn’t encourage it. US soccer is a mess.

Look forward to reading a single published article from any US soccer writer with any substantial position of authority that tells the truth about the sorry state of the USMNT & the responsibility that USSF & MLS leadership have for it. Until then, fuck their tweets.

@THEChrisKessell I shorten this to “Full-Max” and I say it all the time consistently. Full Focus Maximum Effort. It’s become the sort of cultural slogan for all the teams I coach across all sports. Applies everywhere.

@bakiBalboa Safe to say that day is full of many conflicted feelings for all kinds of reasons. For me it helps focusing on 9-12 and the incredible rallying this country and my communities did. Gives me hope that in dark times the best in people can come out. 🤷‍♂️

@bakiBalboa Thanks for sharing Phil. I was 23 at the time, living on Long Island. Some friends were in the towers, luckily got out. I tried to enlist in the aftermath but didn’t make the medical (detached retina). Sometimes I’m sad about it, what if kinda thing, but other times relieved.

@GabePirlo It’s all those darn new employees I tell ya, no way it’s the institutionalized corrupt leeches who’ve conspired to retain power, no way totally not them!

Dear every club in the world outside of the U.S.- When @MLS says to pay them the entire transfer fee and that they’ll assure “the appropriate treatment of any and all onward payments”...they are very much lying and your reputation is at stake. espn.com/soccer/major-l…

@hatrik10 Not an older coach but I still see my Elementary Gym coach from time to time and his name is will always be “Coach” to me. Same with high school football coaches (22 years ago! 😳)

@THEChrisKessell Please do! I’m always very interested in what others are doing at younger ages. I have 2009 and 2010 group this year. Try to introduce new concepts each week or two, nothing major, mostly to encourage discovery on their own.

@TwisterT3 @24x7soccerus I’ve taken one of mine off if we are up big, or let them toss one extra on. This is 7v7 and it’s not as much a rule as it’s “let’s try to make this fun for everyone...” type of thing.

@hatrik10 @matt_mattweed @24x7soccerus This so infuriates me. Inevitably I then have to devote practice time to it, at 8-10 years old that’s wasted time. So much other things I’d rather focus on!

With all the discussion about "what about the owners who paid so much to get in to MLS"... let's start our discussions from the same data point. #ProRelForUSA: How much of the MLS expansion fee is for the team?: prorelforusa.blogspot.com/2017/06/how-mu…

@EgoElway @77_Dredd @GrantWahl You’d have to define “popular” for me. Sure it’s got high participation with 4 year olds, but families quickly discouraged by increasing prices and lack of a proper development path often move on to other sports.

All we are asking for is a defined, healthy soccer pyramid. What we get shoved down our throats is a pyramid scheme. No thanks MLS.

@mikebabaganoosh @77_Dredd @Javierx0149 @GrantWahl They don’t need their agreement. USSF can just remove their sanction as they are not in compliance. They can disagree all they want, they can go continue doing business as they want, they just won’t be sanctioned or recognized by USSF/FIFA as within the pyramid. They would die

Wow. 👏👏👏 Applause here to @GrantWahl for engaging with this head-on but especially for the work @THEChrisKessell and @danielworkman have done to move things forward in tangible ways. I feel a groundswell.
