Wdym? Hamilton has more "individual" race wins than Verstapen has wins.

@emioderso Yes. You are great with that stat. Alonso&Verstapen are the best of modern era. Schumi, Vettel had more dominant cars and most of Hamilton wins were in a (by far) dominant cars. Only Ver& Alo can perform a miracle in a crapy car. If they were in a Ferrari they could pull of wins.

Remember healthcare is a devolved function.

Mnaact ni kama naeza osha nyama ikue dissolved yote. Ama fibres ya maembe. Stomach iko na design yake ya kazi. Tumbo sio sink

If you don't shamelessly promote your work, every day for the next 2-3 years, you will get stuck doing someone else's work until you realize that nobody is going to pay you if they have no idea who you are.

It’s long but WOW did he cook this.

In your 20s and 30s, you will be tempted to prove that you’re doing great. It’s important that you resist performing for an audience that doesn’t care.

The working mechanism of various machines

Wrong. Shitcoders might disappear. Folks capable of writing code capable of finding a proprietary document in a billion-size collection in a matter of milliseconds, developing a driver for cutting-edge hardware, or developing a new niche OS will not disappear. Basically, the work will again belong to those who actually understand computers and know how to write optimal code. Want to know what it looked like before shitcoders came? Software engineer as a career is coming to a close. It may be 5 years or it may be 10 but we can all feel it, the end is beginning. May we go out in glory, and joy, and celebration for the end of a wonderful industry. We’ll have a lot of fun in these last few years

fuck ML courses. this repo lists 300+ real world battle tested case studies of how 80 companies designed their ML systems including Spotify, Netflix, Microsoft, etc. practical understanding of systems is a valuable skill you can work on. some of these case studies are now outdated, but the technical details don’t matter. what matters is the decision making processes that lead to the designs: — how to identify bottlenecks — how to spot systems failures — translating business needs to systems take a look at it and thank me later. github.com/Engineer1999/A…

Munrolive's BMW i3 teardown should be required reading for anyone in mechanical engineering. It consists of 23,793 pages, split across 10 PDFs each for one sub-assembly of the car and is a complete teardown all the way down to individual sheet metal parts and rivets. They even listed out each assembly step including time, success rate and all costs associated with it. I bought mine for $10 around 4 years ago and it has actually been useful in designing robots for scale.

I should start a company where we buy cars takeoff every single part laser scan each component then upload them to a 3d viewer

@BravinYuri Don't buy Intel MacBooks, they don't support some new software and are not going to be supported for long in security updates.

# An Ode to Colab Google Colab is an unsung hero of the AI era. the ability to run any code for free at any time -- and share with other people -- has been invaluable for me as a student, researcher, and teacher google has provided free (GPU!) compute to students & researchers since at least 2020. there are no ads; they don't force you to use jax or TPUs. you can use it for whatever you want. and it's completely free colab is the best thanks big G

A full repo of C practice projects beginner to advanced. Perfect soil to sharpen your skills and level up.

Instead of cloning new repositories on my computer, I started opening them in Firebase Studio. Firebase Studio will give you a VS Code-like IDE in the browser, clone the repo for you, and give you access to an online runtime immediately. Really good trick to avoid littering your computer with one-off repos. This is all free, by the way. Another cool service that @Google has shared with developers.

A simple CNC machine. Wood. A rotating tool. And yet the pattern shifts from circles to perfect hexagons with a level of accuracy most factories still struggle to hit. I worked five years in manufacturing at Siemens, and this is the part people often overlook. The real magic is not new or loud. It is stability. Repeatability. Tool paths that were tuned forever. Precision that just keeps working. Robotics is in a hype cycle right now, but manufacturing has delivered quiet perfection long before anyone talked about foundation models. Sometimes the most interesting engineering is the part that does not ask for attention. —- Weekly robotics and AI insights. Subscribe free: scalingdeep.tech

I finally finished watching the entire Data Structures & Algorithms playlist by @pmavrin 61 videos ~90 hours of content Presented by an ICPC World champion I already attended lectures with the same content 14 years ago. Yet, it was a nice refresher. I was happy to see how much simpler things became. Back at ITMO University, I struggled most of the time to understand the concepts behind some sophisticated data structures. Turns out, the skills I gained through more than a decade of work experience really helped. Specifically, 1. Decomposing a big problem into smaller ones 2. Thinking about edge cases 3. General reasoning skills

~25 years ago, when I was a MechE undergrad, one of our “exams” was something called “machine practical”. Nobody knew what it was. We arrived that morning and everyone had their own lab bench with a V twin Honda engine on it. We had to strip it down and complete a form with a bunch of obscure measurements including some component volumes. Then you had to reassemble the whole thing and start it with a tiny beaker of fuel. There was no time limit. I think some of the class are still there. 😂 I’m not sure if universities still do this sort of thing? But it was my favourite day, even ahead of the day we had to quantifiably destructively test each other’s welding. Last I heard they had engineering students write essays about oppressed 18th century vineyard workers or some such utter b0ll0cks, and the schools charge more than ever.

Once I retire, I just want to rebuild internal combustion engines at my farm. This is so therapeutic.
