Last night’s outreach was a visit to the lovely ladies of Drumbeg WI to talk about The Suffragettes and Women of the First World War. Even found a First World War Role of Honour on the wall. Thank you for the delicious supper after the presentation and your kind donation.

World Traveller Ted visited the Ulster Tower cafe for a refreshing cup of tea, with the Blue Knights New Zealand. The Blue Knights International Law Enforcement Motorcycle Club is a non profit organisation from the Law Enforcement Community who enjoy riding motorcycles.

Remembering the contribution made by the Women's Institute, who celebrate 110 years since its formation. It was a movement started in 1915 during the FWW and formed to encourage countrywomen to get involved in growing & preserving food to help the supply of food to the nation.

Austin has now finished his rotation at the Ulster Tower & Thiepval Wood and is on his way back to the Somme Museum. Jo and Rocky will now cover the next 4 weeks rotation, so if you are in the area please call in and received an ‘Ulster Welcome’ and a great cup of tea ☕️

A Thanksgiving Service shall be held on Friday 19th September at 11am in the Somme Museum. This service is to commemorate the service and sacrifice of the life of Korean War veteran Albert Morrow, who served as an ambulance driver in the Royal Ulster Rifles during the conflict.

It was a busy day yesterday for Austin & Anja at the Ulster Tower with visits in the morning from members of Broughshane LOL and a small group from NI on tour with Baxter’s Battlefield tours. This was followed in the afternoon by a large group from EVOLVNI.

Austin’s tour of the Ulster Tower and Thiepval Wood today was a large group from a variety of different countries. There were visitors from Northern Ireland, England, Scotland, Germany Belgium and Holland.

Today the Somme Museum received a visit from some lovely visitors from Scotland. They were taken around the museum exhibitions and ‘trench experience’ by Claire.
