We just got this letter from the junior doctors at our Trust thanking consultants and SAS doctors for supporting the strike. I trust they don’t mind it being shared, the tone is perfect. As stated, we are one profession and need to challenge the government to act urgently.

The increase in mortality is due to underinvestment in the NHS for more than a decade. This has seen many staff leave the NHS, and if not acted now, the mortality will continue to rise. Hence the strike action!

Our NHS junior doctors are the backbone of the medical workforce. We need them. You need them. We’ve cancelled all clinics. 1/4 have suicidal thoughts. 1/5 depressed. 30% don’t make it to a senior position. Is the media disinterested, or have I missed something? This matters.
#standwithjuniordoctors Losing junior doctors for 2 days has shown us their value, if not earlier. Please don’t lose them for life. That will be the loss of the NHS. Public deserve better healthcare.
