@MinLee10818@gwhuber2 I learned that you can do an economic analysis to estimate the costs you will need to accept to start up a chemical plant. But, it’s hard to do this super accurately so they allocate some extra money if they go over.
@gwhuber2 I learned the basic steps of a catalytic reaction: diffusion to the catalyst, adsorption, reaction, desorption, and then diffusion away from the catalyst.
@gwhuber2 I learned that although hydrogen has had a ton of hype around it in the last few years, none of the current methods of producing hydrogen are economically viable. Especially green hydrogen, it will not return a profit.
@gwhuber2 I learned that the reason the chemical industry is so difficult to break into as a startup is because it takes a huge investment and amount of time to even get your product to market. This makes it unlikely for anyone to take any sort of risk so startups are less numerous.
@gwhuber2 I learned that although China doesn’t have a lot of raw materials, they have the bulk of refining plants which makes them very globally influential.
