"The Bible makes it clear that because of Jesus, the sins we can’t forget God chooses not to remember. So take heart failed one, before God the righteousness of Christ is all any of us need. Before God, the righteousness of Christ is all any of us have." @TullianT

People who blithely go through life too busy or indifferent to ask hard questions about why they believe as they do will find themselves defenseless against either the experience of tragedy or the probing questions of a smart skeptic.

Remind yourself repeatedly this year that you live in a world that is dramatically broken and that somehow, someway that brokenness will enter your door, abd that when it does, your every groaning is heard by your Savior, who is near.

Everyone has a worshipful faith in something from which they derive value. Unless it is God himself, these lesser things control us as we seek them, disappoint us if we find them, and devastate us if we lose them. @timkellernyc Galatians For You.

"The great and central basis of Christian assurance is not how much our hearts are set on God, but how unshakably His heart is set on us." @timkellernyc Galatians for You.

"The idolatry and slavery of religion is more dangerous than the idolatry and slavery of irreligion, because it is less obvious. The irreligious person knows he is far from God, but the religious person does not." @timkellernyc Galatians For You.

"We need to be reminded that we can plant and water, but it’s God who gives the growth (1 Cor. 3:6)." "We need to hear that final commendation again: not “Well done, good and famous servant,” but “Well done, good and faithful servant” (Matt. 25:21, 23)." @RevKevDeYoung

"Budgets, buildings, and bodies matter. It’s hard to do ministry without them. The problem is not in thinking they matter, but in thinking they are the measure." @RevKevDeYoung

If we could save ourselves, Christ's death is pointless, and means nothing. If we realize we cannot save ourselves, Christ's death will mean everything to us. - @timkellernyc - Galatians For You

“Those people in our lives who can respect our boundaries will love our wills, our opinions, our separateness. Those who can’t respect our boundaries are telling us that they don’t love our "no." They only love our "yes," that is, our compliance.” - Boundaries, Cloud&Townsend

People who own their lives do not feel guilty when they make choices. They take other people into consideration, but when they make choices for the wishes of others, they are choosing out of love, not guilt; to advance the good, not to avoid being bad. Boundaries, Cloud&Townsend

[In the parable of the talents (Matt 25:14-30),] the sin God rebukes is not trying and failing, but failing to try. God's grace covers failure, but it cannot make up for passivity. We need to do our part. Boundaries - Cloud and Townsend.

Great wisdom from a book on storytelling, Save the Cat: "Good guys are those who willingly accept change and see it as a positive force. Bad guys are those who refuse to change, who will curl up and die in their own juices, unable to move out of the rut their lives represent."
