10 Rules of Ruthless Trading Discipline
The market doesn't care how badly you want to make money. Your discipline determines how you respond when things go wrong.
1. Plan every trade.
Know your entry, exit, and risk before putting money on the line. If you can't explain the trade, don't take it.
2. Cut losses quickly.
A small loss is part of trading. A manageable loss that you refuse to accept can become a serious problem.
3. Control your position size.
Your position should reflect your risk, not your confidence. One trade should never put your account in danger.
4. Never chase a stock.
Missed an entry? Move on. There will always be another opportunity. Protect your capital instead of forcing a bad entry.
5. Trust your process.
Don't change your strategy after every loss or jump into a new setup because someone else is making money. Give your proven rules time to work.
6. Don't trade out of boredom.
You don't get paid for being active. When the market is weak or your setup isn't there, staying in cash is a valid decision.
7. Never revenge trade.
The market doesn't owe you your money back. After a loss, step away and wait until you can think clearly again.
8. Respect your stop-loss.
Moving your stop farther away just because you don't want to take a loss is how a small mistake becomes a big one.
9. Keep a trading journal.
Record your entries, exits, mistakes, and emotions. If you don't review your decisions, you'll keep repeating the same mistakes without understanding why.
10. Treat trading like a business.
Prepare before the market opens. Follow your rules during the session. Review your decisions afterward. Take responsibility for every trade.
The bottom line:
You don't need to predict every move.
You need to control your risk, wait for your setups, and execute your plan without letting emotions take over.
No forced trades. No big losses. Discipline over ego.
